SMART Start. Students will follow their SMART Start schedule.
Tuesday

Students will continue with their SMART Start schedules and meet their teachers. Students received the class syllabus. Signature sheet due on Monday, August 19th.

Wednesday
|
Students received the "Who Discovered America" Packet. Individually, students will take notes on a separate sheet of paper on the different people and/or groups who claim to have discovered America. At the end of the period, they will discuss with a partner who they feel deserves the real credit for discovering America.

Thursday
In groups of 4, students will decide who they believe deserves the real credit for discovering America. Students will grab a sheet of butcher paper and write on the poster "Who Discovered America." They will then state "We believe _______ deserves the credit for the founding of America" and their evidence as to why. Students must also provide a visual image to go along with their theory. They will have the entire period to work on this and will be presenting on Friday.
Friday
Students will get 20 minutes to finish their poster and decide who is presenting what. When each student presents, they must state their name as well as a random fact about themselves (e.g. I have broken 10 bones in my body). All groups will present.
