Students turned in their signed copy of the syllabus if they had yet to do so. Each student received a 'Marking the Text/SOAP' bookmark. Please see me if you did not receive one/were not in class. It will be yours to keep for the year. Follow the directions of the 'How to Complete an Interactive Notebook PPT' to complete the assignments.

If you were absent, I HIGHLY recommend you watch the 'How to Complete an Interactive Notebook Lecture' as that will help guide you through all the steps of putting together your notebook.

Tuesday

Blank U.S. Map
U.S. Map Quiz Practice
Students filled out all the states and capitals of the United States of America. Students had time to work on the map, but they will have 25 minutes in class to finish it tomorrow. It will be stamped by the end of the period for full credit. The map should be in various colors for full credit. Students will take a test on all the states and capitals on Friday, August 29th. Students will be given a blank map and a word bank of all the states and capitals. The states/capitals will not match on the word bank. Students must know where each state and capital go on the map in order to receive full points for the test.

Wednesday

who really discovered america notes
Students took notes on 'Who Really Discovered America?' in the right hand side of their notebook. Afterwards, continued working on their map. Most students did not finish. Students will be given 15 minutes of class time tomorrow to finish their map. As a reminder, it will be stamped for full credit.

As a reminder, your states/capitals test is on Friday, August 29th.

Thursday

Students had 15 minutes to finish their map. It was stamped for full credit.

After, students began working on the Coming to America DBQ using the SOAP Method on their yellow bookmark. The first documents was analyzed as a class (the example is posted in Document 1 Example). The rest was done individually or you can work with someone else. This will be completed in the left hand side of your notebook.

Friday

Students finished their Coming to America DBQ. It was stamped for full credit. If students have yet to get their textbooks, they will be sent to the library to do so.
