*ALL classes will be live this week. Zoom recorded classes (Thursday and Friday) will be available underneath the weeks module at the end of each school day.
Monday
Students (individually) will read secondary sources on the 9 different groups that claim to have founded America. Students will take notes on each of the 9 groups (you may take notes however you wish). These notes will be submitted today for credit through Canvas.

Tuesday
After reading the 9 secondary sources, students (individually) will decide who they feel deserves credit for the founding of America. There is no right or wrong answer. Students will follow the poster directions from the Who Discovered America documents to create a poster for who they feel deserves the credit. Remember, your poster should have the following:
1) I believe _________ deserves the credit for the founding of America because...
2) Select documents/evidence to support your theory
3) Visuals to help illustrate your theory
4) Your poster can be drawn by hand or be completely digital. Remember, it should be in color and take up the entire space.
You'll have the ability to submit on Canvas today, however, make sure to submit by Wednesday, August 19th.
Juniors will also be getting their textbooks today. I am aware not all of you will be able to check in via Zoom as a result (that's OK). Just know you are responsible for completing the poster if your pick up time is during this class period.

Wednesday
Students will be presenting their posters today, via zoom. You will say your name, a random fact about yourself (i.e. I'm a twin, I've never broken a bone, etc.) and explain who you feel deserves the credit for discovering America. You will need to turn your camera on when presenting, so make sure you are dressed. If you did not submit your poster to Canvas, make sure you do so today.
Thursday
Students will learn how to properly take notes by reading 'How One Man Convinced 200 Ku Klux Klan Members to Give up Their Robes." Afterwards, they will watch a Ted Talk about Daryl Davis and answer questions to go along with the Ted Talk. Both the notes on the article as well as the questions will be submitted through Canvas.

Friday
Students were presented with a summer news quiz to test their knowledge on events that have occurred over the last few months (it isn't worth points, but will be presented to the whole class over Zoom). Afterwards, students took a test to figure out what their political ideology is and which candidates they align with for the upcoming 2020 election. Students will report their results for a grade.
